29.06.26 Bodging, Stols, & Wifs
At last I’ve got round to building this rather basic website! I’ve been busy over the last year, running workshops and developing products to sell. I’ve had a fun old time with the Peaks & Dukeries Bodgers group, going to demo and teach at events this summer. (The next one is the Sherwood Forest Woodland Festival at Thoresby Hall 25th & 26th July, see here https://sherwoodforest.org.uk/projects/the-sherwood-forest-trust-woodland-festival/ ).
Also really enjoyed the Bodgers Ball that happens every year, where green woodworkers from all round the country (or world!) get together and show their work, teach each other, have competitions, and have a lot of fun. The quality of work is phenomenal.

I’ve been making stools,chairs, mallets, peg rails of different sizes, wooden buttons and will be adding more household items. I sell my work, and I welcome commissions. …And in case you were wondering…’Stol’ is an old English word for simple seat, and ‘Wif’ is old English for woman. This comes from Wifmann, and Alewife was historically an independent woman tavern keeper or brewster, when wife did not infer marital status. So I’ve pinched wif and paired it with stol= stool or chair woman!
